From summer of 1937 and on GUBERNIJA brewery expanded. Premises were enlarged, new machinery was built. Price managers regulated the standards for beer. The weakest beer had 3 degrees of alcohol, normal – 3.8 degrees, and the strongest – 5 degrees.
In 1930 one person used to drink 3 litres of beer per year in Lithuania, in Klaipeda’s region – 15 litres. Lithuanians were ones of the last in Europe at drinking beer. Though, beer production at GUBERNIJA grew: in 1930 it reached 1.5 million litres and in 1937 – about 2 mln. litres.
In 1926 GUBERNIJA at the competitive bidding acquired “Ragutis” brewery and after it became the first beer distributor regarding quantities in Lithuania.
In 1926 GUBERNIJA’s “KUNIGAIKŠČIŲ” beer made Lithuania very famous. This beer in the years of A.Smetona’s reign was awarded with two international medals.
In 1909 GUBERNIJA brewery produced more than 1000 pails of beer per day. Before the World War I it reached 300 thousand pails per year.
In about 1970 so-called pneumotransport was created to transport barley and malt to the manufacture. It was the first equipment of such a kind in Lithuania. 262 employees were employed at the company at that time.
In 1950 automatic bottling line burned during the war was repaired. Later, it worked until 1957 until a new bottling department was established.
During the Second World War GUBERNIJA was totally destructed and burned. Later, after the war, it was raised from the ashes. Rebuild work of brewery started.
